Mechanics

Pre-pull Preparation

Assign two light party groups of one tank, one healer, and two DPS each.

Throughout Phase 1 and Phase 3, there will be two platforms on the arena. Players can move to the other platform via two portals on the side of the platform – doing so will give the player the Immobile Suit debuff, preventing them from using a portal for 20 seconds. Assign one group to start on the main platform and one group to move over to the second platform when it appears.

During the phases with two platforms, the Diamond Weapon will auto-attack the two players with the highest aggro with a line AoE.

Mechanic Overview

Phase 1 - Two Platforms

Summons an orb on each platform based on how many players there are on the platform. Each orb will deal magic damage and inflict a stacking magic vulnerability debuff. It will likely kill the party at more than 5 stacks, so each platform should aim to have 4 players for this mechanic.

The Diamond Weapon will cleave one platform, indicated by glowing claws on the side it will cleave. If one of the cannons is glowing, it will then either do Homing Lasers or Diamond Flash.

  • Homing Lasers is indicated by the Diamond Weapon’s shoulder cannons glowing. It is an unmarked AoE on all eight players that inflicts magic vulnerability. Players will need to spread out.
  • Diamond Flash is indicated by the Diamond Weapon’s frontal cannon glowing. It is an unmarked stack marker. All eight players will need to stack.

The Diamond Weapon places a proximity marker on the two players with the highest aggro. These will deal heavy damage and must be taken and mitigated by the tanks.

The Diamond Weapon becomes untargetable and prepares to go into the second phase. All players will get targeted by proximity tethers (Diamond Shot). There will be two knockbacks originating from the north or south. Players must use this knockback to get knocked opposite of where their tether comes from.

  • If the tether comes from the same platform, get knocked back to the opposite platform.
  • If the tether comes from the opposite platform, get knocked back the length of the current platform.

Players will then have to move to the platform not indicated by Airship’s Bane, knocking the platform out of commission.

Phase 2 - One Platform

The Diamond Weapon will summon orbs along the arena, dash or jump to them, and do mechanics along the way. The type of mechanic is dependent on how many orbs spawn. There will either be five orbs across both sides, or one or two orbs on the north and south edges of the platform.

The second time these mechanic sequences happen, the Diamond Weapon will spawn Magitek Bits. Players must dodge these while going to the safe spot for each mechanic.

A moderate raidwide AoE that deals magical damage.

A physical AoE tankbuster on the current MT that inflicts a physical vulnerability debuff. A tank swap is required.

The Diamond Weapon summons Magitek Bits along the arena that shoot a line AoE across the arena from where they spawn. Getting hit will inflict a vuln stack and deal heavy damage.

Phase 3 - Two Platforms

The Diamond Weapon marks all players with numbers from one to eight. After the cast ends, players will be cleaved in order from one to eight. Each cleave deals heavy magical damage and inflicts a magic vulnerability debuff, meaning players cannot get hit by multiple.

Moving AoE markers appear under all players. When these resolve, AoEs will drop under all players that will follow them across the arena. Players will have to move across the arena to the other platform to avoid these.

Four towers will appear along the inside edge of both platforms. Players must soak these towers after dodging line AoEs from Articulated Bits. If less than 8 players are alive, towers will be removed based on how many players are dead.

Fight Strategy

Phase 1

  • Both tanks should seek to establish aggro in the beginning of the fight.
  • Begin the fight by having all players burst with their buffs, then the second group should move across via the glowing circle for the first Diamond Rain.
  • Next, the Diamond Weapon will cleave one platform with Adamant Purge. Players on that platform should move across.
  • Stack or spread after moving across. Take this time to top everyone off efficiently.
  • The group currently without the debuff should move across after they are topped. This puts the Photon Burst on both sides and spreads the debuff evenly.
    • Have the tank stay at the north edge and the rest of the party go south so that the tank can continue attacking the boss.
  • Mitigate and heal through the Photon Burst.
  • The players on the platform being cleaved by Adamant Purge should move across. Immediately after the cleave, the players without the debuff should move across to spread players evenly for the subsequent Diamond Rain.
  • The Diamond Weapon will do the Adamant Purge into stack/spread sequence once more. Again, players on the platform being cleaved should move across, then stack or spread. Only the tank needs to move across for the final Photon Burst, and they should do so right as the mark appears. Make sure the tanks are not cleaving each other with autos.
  • Do Photon Burst again, and damage the boss until the transition begins. Heal the party during this time. For this final Photon Burst, only one tank (the one able to) should jump across, as there is no more jumping required. This tank should use heavy mitigation or consider using an invulnerability.
  • Players will be tethered to one of four magitek bits on either platform. Players must extend their proximity tether so that they do not take lethal damage from Diamond Shot.
  • If the tethered bit is on the same side, players will have to get knocked back to the opposite side. If the tethered bit is on the opposite side, players will have to get knocked back to the same side.
    • Players will have to stand either left/right of the knockback marker, or directly north/south of the knockback marker.
  • Players on the platform being cleaved should use the portal to quickly move across to the safe side.

Phase 2

  • Heal the party before the boss returns.
  • In this phase, you will battle the Diamond Weapon on a single platform. It will use orbs, dashes, and jumps.
  • Mitigate and heal through the two raidwides.
  • The type of Auri Arts will be dependent on how many orb spawn.
  • The first sequence is if there are five orbs across both sides:
    • The Diamond Weapon will dash to an orb in the corner, then sequentially dash to the next orb on the opposite side. Avoid these dashes by standing in the middle on the opposite side of where it faces.
      • Go to the safe half of the arena. When the boss jumps to the middle, you will either go to the same spot as the first one if the boss is facing away from your side, or one orb south if the boss is facing towards your side.
    • Afterwards, the Diamond Weapon will jump to the middle and look to one side, north or south. It will jump to the orb on that side an do a line AoE across. Go to the side the orb is not on. Five orbs across on both sides:
  • The second sequence is if there is one or two orbs north and south:
    • The Diamond Weapon will jump to an orb north or south. What it will do will depend on if there is no orb or one orb across from it.
      • If there is no orb across from the Diamond Weapon, it will jump to the opposite side and do a huge AoE. Go to the side it is on.
      • If there is an orb across from the Diamond Weapon, it will dash across the middle to the opposite side, then jump back to where it started and do a huge AoE. Go to a corner the opposite side it is on.
    • Afterwards, the Diamond Weapon will jump to the large orb near the centre and do a knockback from it (Vertical Cleave). Use your knockback prevention skills or get knocked back to a corner.
  • Mitigate and heal through the tank buster after the first sequence and do the second sequence.
  • After the second sequence, it will repeat the first sequence but with Magitek Bits shooting line AoEs across the arena. Players must find a safe spot for the dashes while dodging the line AoEs.
    • For the first sequence, the first line AoEs will go across the arena north to south while the Diamond Weapon is dashing. The second line AoEs will go across the arena east to west while the Diamond Weapon looks at one side to do the long dash.
    • For the second sequence, the first line AoEs will go across the arena north to south after the Diamond Weapon charges – this eliminates one corner as a safe spot. The second line AoEs will go across the arena east to west on either the north or south side of the arena after the Diamond Weapon does the knockback. It is recommended to use knockback prevention on this set, but either is fine.
      • If there was one orb the first sequence, there will be two orbs this sequence, and vice-versa.
  • After the final Outrage, the boss becomes untargetable, the second platform returns, and the encounter begins its third and final phase.

Phase 3

  • The boss will auto both tanks as it returns, and players will all be on one side. Make sure both tanks are on the north side and avoid clipping other players.
  • The first mechanic coming back from Phase 2 is Flood Ray. For this mechanic, players must direct numbered cleaves one to eight such that they do not cleave any other players.
  • We can resolve this mechanic two ways: odds left evens right or 1256 / 3478. Most parties seem to be defaulting to odds left evens right, but the gist of the mechanic is the same.
    • Players will want to stand at the close corner of the arena, with 1234 first and then 5678 replacing them. 5 will go to 1’s spot, 6 will go to 2’s spot, 7 will go to 3’s spot, and 8 will go to 4’s spot.
    • Move after the cleave resolves. The earlier numbers can sit at their spot, and then move back to the middle after their cleave goes off. The later numbers sits in the middle, and goes to their designated spot.
    • Make sure you do not accidentally step on the portal while moving to your spot.
  • After Flood Ray has resolved, players should go back to their original platforms in the very beginning of the fight, heal up, and do the Photon Burst.
  • The next Adamant Purge into Homing Lasers or Diamond Flash is done similarly to the first one. However, there will be Magitek Bits shooting line AoEs in one half of each platform.
    • Players must dodge the line AoEs, then move to the correct platform, then spread or stack for the mechanic, then finally the other group will move across so that there are four players on each platform for Diamond Rain.
  • The next sequence of mechanics has players drop moving AoEs across the arena.
    • First of all, Articulated Bits will spawn in the north or south half of the arena. Players should go to where the bits spawn. There will be four players on each side.
    • Next, they will receive Diamond Shrapnel markers. Bait these on the far edge of the arena.
    • When the AoEs appear, quickly go to the portal and move diagonally up or down into the AoEs the other group placed.
    • Afterwards, move towards your designated tower. The easiest way is to do THMR from north. Dodge the line AoE from the Bits and then soak the tower.
  • Afterwards, heal up and mitigate for the Photon Burst.
  • The rest of the fight is all mechanics you have seen previously in this phase. Higher raid DPS will clear before the next few mechanics go off, but nothing is new and if you’ve come this far you’ll be able to clear the fight as long as you beat enrage.
  • The next mechanic is the same as the previous Adamant Purge, with the opposite stack or spread mechanic.
    • Again, players must dodge the line AoEs, then move to the correct platform, then spread or stack for the mechanic, then finally the other group will move across so that there are four players on each platform for Diamond Rain.
  • Players must do the Flood Ray mechanic again. This time, players will start on different platforms. Therefore, players will have to stay or move based on what number they get.
    • Odds will go left and evens will go right, like usual. For example, if you are on the left platform already and you get an odd number, you do not move.
  • After Flood Ray, move to the original platform you were on at the beginning of the fight for Photon Burst, and to make sure the final Adamant Purge is done correctly.
  • The next mechanic is the same as the previous Adamant Purge, with a random stack or spread mechanic.
    • Again, players must dodge the line AoEs, then move to the correct platform, then spread or stack for the mechanic, then finally the other group will move across so that there are four players on each platform for Diamond Rain.
  • DPS the boss down before enrage finishes casting.

PUG Strategy

Phase 1 and Phase 2 are done as stated in the guide.

Deciding on movement for Flood Ray can be done in various ways, however, the hits are still the same. This is generally referred to as 1256N in PF.

  • Odds/evens cross has odd numbers or even numbers always cross to the new platform.
  • Odds left/west and evens right/east has odd numbers always going to the west platform and even numbers always going to the east platform. This may involve staying or leaving, depending on what platform players are on. This is usually simplified by way of markers on each platform.
  • Some parties have odds/evens match colours – odds are blue and evens are red, and one platform is blue and one platform is red. I would not suggest using colour as the only indicator as it is difficult for some players, myself included.

Afterwards, most groups will go back to their original light parties, but some groups will choose to stay in the light parties assigned to them by numbers. I highly advise against this, however, as it may put two tanks or two healers on the same platform.

For Diamond Shrapnel, there are “safe” and “unsafe” baits. Unsafe baits is the same as described in the guide. Safe baits have players bait the AoEs on the half of the arena without bits, move into the bit explosion, and then use the teleport to jump across.

Role-Specific Tips

Tank

  • Both tanks need to establish aggro at the beginning of the fight.
  • Tanks are constantly taking auto-attacks throughout the fight. Mitigate them properly with cooldowns like Rampart. Use heavy cooldowns like Sentinel or Vengeance with your active mitigation for Photon Burst.
  • Make sure you are not clipping your raid with the line AoE auto-attacks. Stay on the north side of the arena when possible, and reposition north after mechanics.
  • Make sure to designate Reprisal usage. One tank should be getting Diamond Rain and the other should be getting Photon Burst. During Phase 2, Reprisal every Outrage. The very first two Outrages can be covered by a singular Reprisal.
  • Cover heavy periods of damage like said double Outrage with tank shields.
  • As Auri Doomstead is physical and hits in an AoE, move away from the party and mitigate it with heavy cooldowns. The boss will not turn while casting.
  • Tank LB3 can save runs if players are down for Adamant Sphere.

Healer

  • Healers should find instances where both groups are on the same platform to effectively AoE heal. Otherwise, both healers will have to put in more resources to top up their party. This is useful for ground-targeted heals such as Earthly Star or Asylum.
  • Try to stay close to the close edge of the platform to be able to reach the other side for heals, if necessary.
  • Each group’s healer should heal their tank when necessary.
  • There is a lot of micro-downtime during this fight, especially in Phase 2. Heals can be delayed until then.
  • Rescue through the middle will kill the player.

DPS

  • Use mitigation for heavy hitting AoE. Addle can be used for the very first Diamond Rain, which comes back up to cover the double Outrage at the beginning of Phase 2.
  • Likewise, Feint can be used for mitigating Auri Doomstead.
  • Phase 1 and 3 do not have positionals. Phase 2 does.
  • Bursting in this fight may prove difficult when players are spread out and not in the range of raid buffs. Wait until players are together to burst effectively. This means the 2 minute burst may be delayed.
  • The 4 minute burst can be used on cooldown, but the 6 minute burst should be delayed as the boss transitions from Phase 2 to Phase 3 right around that time.
  • There is a lot of micro-downtime during Phase 2. Make sure to gauge the downtime effectively in order to not waste resources before the boss becomes untargetable, or maximize usages of cooldowns.
